McGrath – The Growth Gap and Senior Management

We are in the midst of a consulting session led by Rita Gunther McGrath on how to develop innovation capacity. The first step was to develop a chart to see more clearly if there is a “growth gap” – that is a gap between where a firm is placing its investment in time and resources and where it needs to invest in order to produce growth.

The second step?  You might think it is to start brainstorming. Wrong, It is to get senior management – the leadership – behind the need to re-orient. Wthout that backing, there will be no possibility to move resources behind new project ideas.
