We all are racing around looking for growth markets. But instead of racing around, we might ask, what types of things will people always want? And to do that, you can look to the past. What types of things did people want – who could afford anything?
The answer — or at least one answer — is pretty simple. They wanted customized service. Butlers, chauffeurs, etc. They wanted things done exclusively for them. Custom made trumped mass produced, when custom made was done by a top rated craftsman or better yet, artist.
Now consider — digital technology makes providing customized services a lot cheaper. That enables us to offer a wider range of services that are tailored to individuals and offer them what they want when they want it.
