Much has been written about the power and wealth of the so called 1% and the shrinking middle class.
This is a cause for concern — aside from ideological grounds — because the middle class is the spending engine for the economy. The rich spend less per added dollar earned.
So what are the trends? BI offers some interesting data from 2000 to the present. It is worth a look – if just to compare US data with other countries (in fact the US looks ok) and to see the incredible concentration of wealth in Russia.
