McGrath: Agility and Enhanced Sensitivity

We are elaborating the characteristics of the agile firm. So far, we have unpacked a few of these characteristics. They are shape shifting (rather than fixed in organizational structure), and centrally budgeted (to allow for faster adjustment of budgets).

The third characteristic is called “flexibility”. This means making it a routine aspect of management to assess whether adjustments in strategy are needed. Not annually, but perhaps quarterly. That reflects an enhanced sensitivity to data about the market.
