More on the Business of Writing

Yesterday I posted on some trends that affect the business of being creative, especially writing. Well, it turns out that  the business of writing is even more interesting than that. Self-publishing is starting to go mainstream.  BI writes about the more favorable deals that novelists can get from Amazon than traditional publishers. And Life Hacker gives a step by step guide to self-publish.

I think this is just getting started. Writing as a creative art will become more — not less — important in the 21st century. Why? Because we will rely more heavily on partnering over distance. Sharing to create creative exchanges will rely on writing for the foreseeable future. And we will use books too — but books will not be the only way that writers make a living.
