When You Want to Go Private

Fred Wilson offers an interesting thought about the search engine Duckduckgo today. Duckduckgo will not replace or even threaten Google. That is not the point. but Duckduckgo can and is capturing a sliver of the huge search market. A niche. Why? Because Duckduckgo doesn’t use your personal data to make money the way Google does. I agree with Fred that the market for enhanced privacy will be larger than people think. Why? Because so far, very few people are even aware of how companies collect — let alone use — data about them.
