Strategic learning is an idea that caught on a while ago. It addresses the question “what do we need to know” to succeed. Not so much fields of knowledge, like physics,, but what do I need to know about how life works. BI offers a short list of recommended books.
I am sympathetic to the trend, but I also have a complaint. I don’t think a reading list is enough to give kids a head start. They need a path that gets them thinking, helps them use that thinking and assess the results as they go. And we need a better format than a “book” to deliver that kind of path.
