At least part of the weekend should be spent in the kitchen. This is not because one is starved. It is because being in or around the kitchen regulates the pace of life. It opens the door to more leisurely appreciation of the time that we have.
And that “door opening” is what we want good writing about food and travel. To give a glimpse of a life slowed down. You might find it just a picture of Porto. Or a proper meal prepared for a pregnant friend in Paris.

They nurtured pace of life that allows one to form memories of unhurried pleasures and good friends. It almost makes one want to dress for dinner.
