Most of us don’t have solar panels — yet. So most of us are not following technology advances that are making solar more efficient. And this will not change overnight. The cost of installing solar power generation capacity is still pretty high. And while some business models allow you to avoid those costs, they are not widespread — yet.
Meanwhile, a lot of research is underway to make solar power generation more efficient. This has to do with reducing the cost of making panels. And it has to do with increasing the efficiency of panels to convert light into power. So far, a 20% plus conversion rate is about as good as it gets. Most offer around 10%. But if panels could do 80%? Researchers at MIT think they may have a way to do this over time.
Cool thing for today!
